GOING UP RIVER

Raul & Esther Ruiz lead the HIA Amazon team. They are serious about stopping sexual abuse of children among 15 Shipibo tribes along the Ucayali River, not far from where Mario, HIA founder, was born. Since their team began sharing this subject just a few months ago, testimonies from victims have started pouring in. Traveling up river for hours in long boats our team is encountering a surprising response to their visits. Record numbers of villagers of all ages have been gathering to receive instruction and prayer. Life times of wounds are being addressed and beginning to heal as people open to God´s power and love. Both parents & children are receiving training on how to stop sexual predators and prevent abuse.

P.A.R.E. TO THE RESCUE

Stories of child abuse are painful and atrocious no matter where they happen. Unfortunately, sexual abuse in our world is rampant and on a global scale, it is a problem of epic proportions. The Amazon is just one of many regions where progress is being made with P.A.R.E. as local officials and authorities have committed to help our teams with investigations. This step alone is significant to bringing perpetrators to justice. The social effects of sexual abuse are enormous and long lasting. Young boys who are violated more readily become pedofiles themselves and women who were abused as children suffer from isolation and a lack of ability to care for themselves & others. The native women in the Amazon tend to be shy and quiet. Never before have they told their stories but through P.A.R.E. they are opening up and being given a voice.
